Reduce Stress with the MBSR 8-Week Online Program

Invest in the most respected, well-established and evidence-based mindfulness meditation program, the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) 8-week series. The MBSR program was created by Jon Kabat-Zinn, PhD at the UMass Medical Center to optimize one's ability to face stress, pain and illness across one's lifespan. Explore how mindfulness may support you in these stressful times to live life more fully, with greater ease and joy and by:

  • Cultivating self-awareness, improving attention and cognitive ability

  • Responding rather than reacting to stress, changing habitual reactivity patterns

  • Reducing stress, anxiety, depression, chronic pain, improving health and feelings of well-being

  • Making positive changes in risk factors that may lead to more serious chronic ailments

  • Improving relationships and accessing your natural capacity to actively engage in caring for yourself and others around you

Note: MBSR is not offered as an alternative to traditional medical and psychological treatments, but as a complement to these treatments.

"Mindfulness is about being fully awake in our lives. It is about perceiving the exquisite vividness of each moment. We feel more alive. We also gain immediate access to our own powerful inner resources for insight, transformation and healing.”~Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn

About the MBSR 8-week program

  • The Gold Standard in mindfulness training

  • The most scientifically researched, evidence-based, life-affirming, secular mindfulness program

  • Created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979

  • The foundation of this program is built on, there is more right with you than wrong with you.

  • Includes meeting virtually 2.5 hours per week to learn through discussion and mindfulness practices, materials, daily home practices of 45-60 minutes per day, and an all-day class

  • A strong commitment is needed to attend classes and to practice daily home assignments for eight weeks

  • Some practices include mindful movement with options to modify movements and poses for comfort and well-being

  • Group dialogue, with discussions offered to enhance awareness in everyday life

  • Taught online by MBSR Instructors

  • No prior meditation experience required - great for beginners and advanced meditators alike

  • MBSR is not offered as an alternative to traditional medical and psychological treatments, but as a complement to these treatments

  • The first meeting in the MBSR program is an Orientation session before the start of the 8 weekly sessions. The Orientation is required of all participants before beginning the program. During this session, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Learn about the program, ask questions, and determine whether it is right for you

  • Meet your program instructor

  • Experience, first-hand, mindfulness methods and approaches you will be learning during the program

  • Your deposit or full-payment is refundable if you decide not to continue with the program after the Orientation and before the first session

  • A desktop or laptop computer with speakers, microphone, and camera, and a internet connection are preferred over a Smartphone if feasible. Laptops work best because they come with necessary equipment and can easily be moved from room to room in your home or office, so that you may find a quiet place. Ensure Zoom is installed on your device (free version is fine). Please familiarize yourself with Zoom if you haven't used it before prior to Orientation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFhAEoCF7jg

  • Consider reading the book, Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabot Zinn as time allows.

  • Fulfills prerequisite requirement for MBSR Instructor Training Certification
